  Pandemic Flu Preparedness

Emergency Planning: Pandemic
U.S. Department of Education
Higher Education

Earlier this year, the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices released, "Preparing for a Pandemic Influenza: A Primer for Governors and Senior State Officials." A key finding of the primer is the widespread relevance of preparing for a pandemic: proper planning and training for a pandemic flu will produce wide-ranging benefits because the preparation involved is transferable to virtually any type of public health emergency. The newly announced NGA Pandemic Preparedness Project will address issues critical in any emergency, including public health preparedness, continuity of government planning, maintenance of essential services and the development of community-based and cross-border response strategies.
