QUERIES
This page provides a compilation of responses to questions that
have been posed to State Directors. The queries pertain to key issues
that are relevant to the operation of Community College systems.
Click on each question below to view the data from each state that
has submitted a response.
State Legislation on Developmental/Remedial Courses
1) Has your state passed legislation that prohibits four year public
institutions from offering developmental/remedial courses, thereby
making community colleges solely responsible for developmental/remedial
education, and
2) Do you see this as positive or negative for community colleges in
your state and why?
American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funding
To help prepare for testimony to be delivered to the Senate regarding
federal funds to support public education jobs, AACC would like to know:
1) Did Community Colleges in your state received funds through the
ARRA state fiscal stabilization fund?
2) Looking ahead, what is the need in your state that another
infusion of these types of funds might help address? What percentage
budget cuts are you experiencing or expecting to experience? Are you
facing layoffs or enrollment caps/unserved students?
Lobbying Rules
Does your state have any similar
requirements for college officials?
Concurrent Enrollment Guidelines
Request for feedback regarding guideline development for dual
enrollment.
High School
Diploma Requirements
Excluding dual/concurrent enrollment (HS and College) does
your state have a policy or statute that requires students enrolling in
community college to have a HS diploma or equivalent?
Veterans' Programs
Are there any STATEWIDE or REGIONAL efforts in your state to
deliver training programs to military veterans, particularly in non
credit licensure or certification programs?
Perspectives on Payments in Lieu of Taxes
This query that you see below came from one of our campuses and if
any of you have any relevant perspectives to share, I would appreciate
hearing from you. AACC has no position on this issue, but perhaps you
have some experience with the issue that would be of benefit this
president. The problem sounds like one that is probably not unique.
If you would like to add your state's data in response to any of
these questions, please email your response to Katharine Carter at
